“When We Give, We All Gain”: Olympic Champion Athanasia Tsoumeleka inspires on International Women’s Day
We had the honor of meeting Athanasia Tsoumeleka, one of the Greek most inspiring athletes, who shared her reflections on the meaning of International Women’s Day and this year’s theme, #GiveToGain.
Athanasia , a Greek race walker who captured the gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics, remains a symbol of perseverance and determination. In 2003, she finished 7th at the World Championships, but just one year later she stunned the sporting world with her Olympic victory and was named Greek Female Athlete of the Year.
Reflecting on International Women’s Day, Athanasia emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for women and supporting one another across all sectors. “Real progress begins when we choose to give,” she noted. “Give opportunities, give support, give recognition, and give space for women to lead and thrive.”
Her message aligns closely with the values promoted by Olympios Group, which marked the occasion by reaffirming its commitment to empowering women in the workplace.
At Olympios Group, empowerment is not just a statement but a continuous effort. By supporting professional growth, encouraging leadership, and creating equal opportunities, the organization aims to foster a culture where talent and potential can truly flourish.
International Women’s Day serves as a reminder that meaningful change is built through collective action. By celebrating the women who inspire progress every day and strengthening commitments to inclusive workplaces, organizations and individuals alike can contribute to a future where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
