Smart Water Network in the Municipal Water and Sewerage Company of Larissa
Olympios Group is completing within 2024, two significant contracts for the supply, installation, and launching of a smart water management network for the Municipal Water & Sewerage Company of Larissa (DEYAL). These contracts will result in delivering the largest Fixed Network AMR system in Greece that include the installation of 32,105 advanced digital water meters (Smart Meters) and the deployment of a wide-area wireless network based on the LoRaWAN communication protocol.
The Challenge
DEYAL faced critical challenges such as inefficiencies in manual meter readings, delays in leak detection, and a lack of real-time water consumption data. These issues not only increased operational costs but also restricted efficient water resource management, highlighting the need for an advanced, data-driven solution.
The Solution
Olympios Group is deploying an advanced wireless automated data reading system for 32,105 digital water meters within DEYAL’s territory. Using a fixed LoRaWAN network and collectors, the system ensures real-time transmission of consumption data and alerts. With low energy consumption enabled by periodic data transmission, the digital meters operate efficiently for extended periods, minimizing maintenance requirements.
Data collection, processing, and analysis are conducted through the SmartVille IoT platform, developed by IANIC, Member of the Group. The platform interfaces seamlessly with the ERP system that IANIC has developed and implemented at the water utility.
