On Wednesday 22 October 2025, fourteen leading innovators in the water management – including Olympios Group – issued joint recommendations for the upcoming EU Action Plan on Digitalisation in the Water Sector, designed to advance the goals of the European Water Resilience Strategy.
The statement stresses that for the Action Plan to succeed, it cannot be conceived as a standalone EU initiative. Instead, it must align 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗨 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀, including funding mechanisms, modernised procurement frameworks, and related initiatives in energy and digital sectors.
Among its actionable recommendations, the Joint Statement calls on EU policymakers to:
Long-term EU Budget 2028–34: Promote innovative financing models for digital technology deployment, with favourable funding conditions for projects demonstrating effective use of smart technologies.
Revision of EU Public Procurement Rules: Incentivise digital solutions in water procurement and introduce EU guidelines to help local and national authorities integrate qualitative criteria beyond price.
Leverage All Relevant EU Policy Initiatives: Ensure that upcoming frameworks such as the EU Climate Adaptation Plan explicitly recognise the role of data and digital technologies in strengthening water resilience.
